Among the historic treasures and architectural wonders in the city of Verona, one of the major one is certainly the Castelvecchio.
Originally called Castle of San Martino in Aquaro, the Castelvecchio now houses the museum and is the most important military monument in Verona.
The practical and architecture function of its position is to be an element of urban defense, inseparable from the river, and at the same time projecting its action over the river.
The monument is divided in three parts: the so-called Court of the Palace, to the south, the Court of Arms, to the north, separated by the Court of the Mastio.
