This street of the historic centre is the symbol of Naples. Its real name is "Via San Biagio dei Librai” (in its most distinctive part) but it has always been called Spaccanapoli as it cuts in two most of the city.
Starting from the Pignasecca district, the road crosses the entire historical centre including Piazza del Gesù, Piazza San Domenico, San Gregorio Armeno and Via Duomo, arriving until the end of Castel Capuano.
Along the way, the road takes seven different names with a sequence of basilicas, palaces and squares among the most interesting of the city, such as the Complex of Santa Chiara and Gesù Nuovo, the Filomarino palaces, the church of San Domenico Maggiore, and many others.
