Things to know about Villa Borghese

Villa Borghese, one of the largest and most beautiful parks in the centre of Rome: originally, it was the ancient private residence of the Borghese family, but at the beginning of the 20th century the whole area was sold to the City of Rome, which has converted into a public park.

The Villa Borghese holds in its 226 acres of garden several statues, fountains, artificial lakes and theaters (including a replica of Shakepseare's Globe). Also, some of Rome's most important museums are inside the park, such as the Galleria Borghese, which houses works by Bernini and Caravaggio, the Etruscan Museum and the House of Cinema.

Offering a pleasant refuge from the hectic streets in the city centre, Villa Borghese is often considered the ideal place for a relaxing break or a romantic walk through green and history.
